Tenrox is a project management and workforce management system that aims at automating the process of work life as much as possible. From the simple time sheet to comprehensive approval workflows for project change requests, Tenrox does it.
Tenrox manages time, projects and resources for the organization.
On the employee’s side, they can fill out their time sheets, expense reports and leave requests. They can consult their workload for the coming weeks or months, and update the project manager on their assigned issues, tasks, and requests. We liked the simplicity of the interface on the employee’s side.
On the project management side, managers can plan and manage their projects, request resources from the functional managers, and keep an eye on project costs, compared to the budget and the baseline. We especially liked the scope change functionality, which creates a workflow of approval to all changes to the project scope.
On the functional management side, managers can approve or reject the requests they receive from the employees and the managers. It creates one central place where both the project managers’ and the project team members’ can be addressed.
On the financial side, Tenrox can track financial information for both costs and billing, providing a complete portrait on the profitability of a project.
However, the most impressive part of Tenrox is its powerful customizability. Dashboards, reports, searches, and forms can be adapted to the needs of the organization. We were especially impressed with the workflow capabilities. Tenrox lets organizations create a workflow of each item in the system that goes through an approval process. From change requests to time sheet approvals, it’s up to the organization to decide how many levels of approvals are required and to automate the process as much as desired.
For a bird’s eye view, configurable dashboards let the organization decide which reports to show. Since several dashboards can be created, one can set up one dashboard to budgets, another for the schedule and a third for change requests.
Overall, Tenrox is a powerful system to automate and integrate management processes, without needing a developer on staff to implement customizations.
