For once, project management software designers have found a way to organize the jumble of tasks that projects often become. With Intellect Platform, you can set a nice, clean path through which projects go, finally making sense of all those workflow diagrams that usually gather dust on the company Intranet.
Using Intellect Platform was quite refreshing - after all, for a project management system to succeed, it must have a feature that sets it apart, if not above, the competition. With Intellect Platform, this feature is called workflows.
Worklfows are basically just that, chronological steps that the project must go through. This is very useful to standardise project management. Worklfows are also easy to setup: the workflow editor looks similar to Microsoft Visio, where you simply drag and drop shapes, and position them in relation to one another.
Intellect Platform is both a project management and a process management system. While project management refers to a flow of tasks that change from project to project, process management is a flow where tasks are always the same. For example, when building a house, the basic tasks are always the same, the process remains unchanged from house to house, but the specifics of the house, like the floor materials or the size of the rooms, will vary from project to project.
Beyond the nifty workflow features lies a surprisingly simple to use system, where everything is just a click away: personal navigation tabs can be shown, hidden and resized easily, while a tree-view is also available for those who prefer the folder approach.
Reports were also easy to setup, use and understand. It is clear that they were designed with non-programmers in mind: the setup parameters read like actual sentences. For example, you could set up of project status pie charts, only for project that are in a certain budget range, managed by a specific user group. In the report properties window, filters say exactly that: "where budget is greater than.. and lesser than. and approved by."
Intellect Platform's team have setup a score of project templates from which most organizations can start. They can also completely customize the system for you, so your organization's terminology is consistent in the software too. However, even with the templates, it is easy for system administrators to make the system their own. The rich properties for all form fields, for example, and the advanced drag-and-drop feature when building forms and workflow, makes it really easy to adapt Intellect Platform.
Of course users, groups and access rights are just as customizable. In Intellect Platform, things give an impression of being clean and well organized, from the simple interface to the more complex features and configuration options.
All in all, Intellect Platform is a great project management software for organizations that are looking for a solution that goes beyond simple task management.
