@task is one of the rare products in the market that can really claim to be a web-based alternative to MS Project. When you have Google, Amazon, Coca Cola, the NASA, Honda, and Cisco as customers, this proves that your product can unquestionably raise the biggest challenges.
Feature-wise, @task has a very impressive feature range. Whether you need dashboards, portfolio management, milestones, costs management, issue management, bug tracking or risk management, this project management solution has it all. Quite frankly, we haven't noticed any key feature missing. Furthermore, the level of customization throughout the system is very high.
You can create your own dashboards, your own reports and your own menu items, among other things. Dashboards are exportable to multiple formats, including PDF and Excel. Dashboarding and reporting in @task stands out from the competition. Seldom have we seen so many reporting possibilities in a single project management application.
Overall, @task is an intuitive application. The terminology is intelligible and most items can be found easily. However, there are too many sub-menus sometimes (especially in the "Setup" section), which can make configuration a bit cumbersome. Other than that, once you get used to these numerous sub-menus, things run smoothly.
A search box is always available at the upper right of the application. It is very handy whenever you are looking for something, be it projects, tasks, issues, documents or reports.
What makes @task different is its browser and database independence. It works on any web browser, on Windows, Mac, Linux, iPhone or any other mobile device. You can also work in several languages including English, Portuguese, Spanish, Japanese and Chinese. Hence, you can focus on getting the job done instead of worrying about logistics.
@task integrates seamlessly with Microsoft Outlook and Salesforce. Furthermore, you can also import your MPP files using the "MS Project Import Wizard". This way, you can add @task to your organization as a new partner without having to change or eliminate existing systems and processes.
In the project management software world, @task is an all-star player. To be honest, it is overkill for small businesses (and seemingly, this is not the market they target). However, for mid-size and large organizations looking for a powerful web-based alternative to MS Project, with the most advanced project management features available, @task should be seriously considered. When the feature set, compatibility and integration aren't showstoppers, what else could be?
