Our team of specialists has reviewed AceProject. We actually connected to a demo version of the product, test drove it and wrote down our comments. The review was written objectively and isn't advertising-driven.

AceProject’s designers must be confident in their product’s ability to seduce visitors: they require no registration to try out the demo. People can play around with the system and determine whether it fits their need without having to leave their email address behind.
Moreover, should one decide to go further in the purchasing process, a free, full-featured account is available! This account has a limited number of users and projects, but otherwise offers the same functions as the subscription or the source code packages. This free solution can even be used on a long-term basis for small teams, since the free accounts do not expire. This is again evidence that AceProject’s design team has tremendous confidence in their product.
Account creation takes seconds and best of all, you get your own sub-domain (e.g. yourcompany. aceproject.com) as your login page. This project management solution has taken support one step beyond: every single page is documented, thanks to the "Contextual Help". There is also extensive information on the more complex concepts, such as access rights, task dependencies and time sheets, which make sure that anyone can understand AceProject quickly and easily.
AceProject itself has a very clean, skinable interface. The tabbed navigation reduces the amount of clicking and searching (and frustration) a typical user will go through when they get acquainted to the system. The menus are simple, the pages load quickly and one can switch between French and English in the blink of an eye.
This product is ideal for those who need more than task management without the hassles of complex and costly methodology-based systems like MS Project or Primavera. The workflow couldn't be simpler: You create users, then projects, then tasks. Users are assigned to projects, and tasks are created in a specific project. Furthermore, documents can be attached to projects and tasks. Time can be entered against a project or a task, and time sheets can be submitted for approval. That's basically how the typical user works with AceProject.
Advanced users, like project managers and administrators, can create task dependencies and view them in Gantt charts, which provide daily, weekly and monthly views. They also benefit from reporting features to track tasks, time sheets, resource allocation and documents. Users can be granted detailed access rights, in accordance with their role in your organization.
For organizations that manage multiple projects at once, the Project Portfolio is amazing. All projects are grouped under one tab. It makes project reporting a breeze as all projects can be tracked from a single place.
Time sheets are a nice part of AceProject. Basically, users enter the hours they worked on a project or task in a time sheet, which can be sent for approval. When approved, the hours show up in time reports. Time can be entered using either a form-based time sheet or the "IN/OUT Module", which is basically a time clock.
Documents empower users to provide their collaborators with extra information on a given project or task. Actually, one can upload documents to a project or a task, be it pictures, Word files, PDFs, spreadsheets, etc. These documents are shared with other users, can be locked (version control) and even made public or private. The "Public" option is great to share documents with non-users (e.g. clients or outsourced personnel). Being able to upload 15 documents at a time is very convenient.
Tasks are the core of AceProject. Basically, everything rely on a task at some point. All tasks are associated to a project, and each task can be given an array of characteristics. Furthermore, project managers can track tasks using a variety of reports. Multiple users can be assigned to a task, documents can be attached to it, dependencies can be set between several tasks and best of all, the "History Trail" provides a detailed record of all changes made to the task, from creation to deletion.
AceProject is an outstanding project management software for small to mid-size organizations. It helps you manage projects, tasks, time sheets and documents, with collaboration-oriented features. Using this software is a breeze, since it's not methodology-driven. Furthermore, the interface was built with "regular" users in mind, not certified project managers. Try their demo first, then create a free account and you'll see by yourself. Its wide array of features will leave you speechless. While Hosted packages are the most convenient, their intranet version (Source Code) is great for organizations who'd rather take care of the IT stuff.
